THE POLICE ACT 1861

1. Interpretation clause

The following words and expressions in this Act shall have the meaning assigned to them, unless there be something in the subject or context repugnant to such construction, that is to say, the word "Zila Nazim" shall mean an elected person who heads the District Government under the local government law; the word ' Magistrate 'shall include all persons within the general police-district, exercising all or any of the powers of a Magistrate: the word' police'shall include all persons who shall be enrolled under this Act:

the words 'general police-district'shall embrace any, province or place, or any part of anv province or place in which the words "District Police Officer" shall mean the 'District Superintendent' or 'District Superintendent of Police' and 'Capital City Police Officer, appointed by the Provincial Government to head the police force in a district or, as the case may be, in Capital City District notified by the  Provincial Government as a general police district."| word ' property 'shall include any movable property, money or valuable security: (The clauses relating to "number" and "gender" rep. by the
